Halal and SHLN, for exporters

If you export food, beverages or slaughter products to Indonesia, 17 October 2026 is the date that matters. Work backwards from it.

The deadline

Mandatory halal certification takes effect 17 October 2026. Full enforcement begins 18 October 2026.

The one question that decides your timeline

Is your existing halal certifier recognised by BPJPH?

  • Yes — you can register the certificate through SHLN. Up to 30 working days, government fee IDR 800,000, filed via ptsp.halal.go.id.
  • No — you are on the full BPJPH route. Three to six months.

Check this first

Do not commission new certification, and do not promise a buyer a shipping date, until you have confirmed whether your certifier is on the BPJPH list. Everything else follows from that answer.

What else to know

  • Certification attaches to product and facility, not to a shipment. Each new SKU is a new application.
  • Your Indonesian buyer carries obligations too, as importer of record. Agree who does what in writing.
  • BPJPH Regulation 4/2026, issued 5 September 2026, covers halal assurance for foreign products entering Indonesia. We are reading it against live files and will update the corridor page.
